Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: Energy-Efficient Pack Cementation Process for Eggshell-Derived CDHA/GNP Coatings on Biomedical Titanium Alloys The present invention describes a low-temperature pack cementation process for fabricating a calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHA)/graphene nanoplatelet composite coating on biomedical titanium alloys. Waste eggshells are calcined to obtain calcium oxide, which is reacted with tricalcium phosphate in distilled water to synthesise eggshell-derived CDHA powder. Graphene nanoplatelets (0.3-1.0 wt.%) are blended into the CDHA powder to obtain a composite coating powder, which is packed with an inert filler and an activator, in which biomedical titanium alloy substrates (Ti-6Al-4V/Ti-6Al-7Nb) are embedded and heat-treated at 750- 850°C under an inert atmosphere, forming a diffusion-bonded coating of 30-50 microns thickness. The composite coating exhibits improved dry wear resistance, saline wear resistance, and corrosion resistance in 3.5 wt.% sodium chloride solution, compared to uncoated substrates, while eliminating the need for vacuum-based equipment and utilising a sustainable, waste-derived raw material, rendering the process economical and suitable for orthopedic and dental implant applications.
