Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an energy-efficient FPGA-based sleep apnea detection system utilizing EEG signal analysis and non-contact electromagnetic field (EMF) respiration sensing for real-time monitoring of sleep-related breathing disorders. The system comprises an EEG signal acquisition module, an EMF respiration sensing module, a plurality of physiological and environmental sensors including ECG, accelerometer, thermistor, and humidity sensors, a microcontroller, an FPGA processing module, a communication module, a display module, and a power management subsystem. The microcontroller acquires and preprocesses sensor data, while the FPGA performs real-time signal processing, feature extraction, and multi-sensor data fusion to detect apnea events with high accuracy and low latency. The system further incorporates intelligent power management with battery backup and IoT-enabled remote monitoring for continuous supervision and alert generation. The invention provides a non-invasive, scalable, cost-effective, and user-friendly solution for long-term sleep apnea monitoring in residential and clinical healthcare environments.
