Abstract: TITLE: ENERGETIC IONIC LIQUID COMPOSITE PROPULSION UTILIZING VOLATILE HYDROCARBON SECONDARY VAPOR INJECTION Abstract: An energetic ionic liquid propulsion system utilizing volatile hydrocarbon secondary vapor injection is disclosed. The system includes a primary reaction chamber configured to decompose a non-toxic energetic ionic liquid composite propellant over a catalyst bed. A secondary fluid channel routes a volatile hydrocarbon refrigerant around the exterior walls of the combustion chamber to provide active regenerative cooling. The heated hydrocarbon vapor is subsequently injected into the primary exhaust flow to undergo secondary combustion, thereby reducing thermal stress on engine materials while simultaneously increasing engine thrust and specific impulse.
