Abstract: Disclosed in the present application are an encoding method, a decoding method, an encoder, a decoder, and a storage medium. No matter at an encoding end or a decoding end, during the determination of a predicted value for a current block by a template-based intra-mode derivation mode (TIMD mode), a predicted cost value of a candidate prediction mode is determined on the basis of a template of the current block, which candidate prediction mode comprises one or more planar intra prediction modes; a target prediction mode for the current block is determined on the basis of the predicted cost value of the candidate prediction mode; and the predicted value for the current block is determined on the basis of the target prediction mode. Thus, the correlation between a template and a current block is fully used to additionally provide as candidate prediction modes one or more planar intra prediction modes regarding a TIMD mode, such that in the TIMD mode, a more suitable prediction mode is adaptively selected on the basis of the template, thereby improving the prediction effect of the TIMD mode, and thus improving the efficiency of encoding and decoding.
