Abstract: ABSTRACT ENCAPSULATED NANO-SIZED SPICE OILS AND PROCESS FOR PREPARATION AND APPLICATION THEREOF The present invention involves the in-situ encapsulation of clove oil to prepare nano-emulsion encapsulated in a biopolymer. The clove oil nano-encapsulated in HPMC is used to develop a quick dissolvable film. The film gets dissolved at salivary pH 7.4 in less than 5 seconds and the polymer controls the release of encapsulated clove oil (active ingredient) and absorption through the mucosal lining. The nano-emulsion comprising of an aqueous solution of polymer, active ingredient (clove oil), and excipients are used for film preparation by solution casting the same and allowing evaporation of the solvent under controlled conditions to retain the entrapped clove oil and moisture in the polymeric film.
