Abstract: An encapsulated medium chain fatty acid salt in the form of core-shell, wherein (i) the core comprises at least one alkali metal salt of medium chain fatty acid or sodium salcaprozate functionalized medium chain fatty acid salt; and (ii) the shell comprises at least one alkali metal salt of medium chain fatty acid or sodium salcaprozate functionalized medium chain fatty acid salt encapsulating the core, is disclosed in the present disclosure. Also disclosed is the use of such encapsulated acids in pharmaceutical compositions, particularly in oral solid dosage forms such as tablets. The tablets according to the present disclosure having excellent mechanical properties.
