MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641057029 A) filed by Mepco Schlenk Engineering College on May 05, 2026, for Empowering A New Vision For Blind.

Inventors include Dr. N. Vanaja; and Dr. K. Banumalar.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: According to the survey detailed by the WHO (World Health Organization), 39 million people around the world were visually impaired ones. Traditional assistive tools like blind sticks have been used by the visually impaired people for navigation purpose. However, it offered only limited support, such as detecting distant obstacles, and lacking in smart guidance features. In contrast, this invention introduces a glove-based system equipped with multiple sensors and intelligent functionalities to enhance the safety, mobility, and independence of blind individuals. The proposed system is designed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with multiple sensors and intelligent modules. It performs obstacle detection, object and currency recognition, and user location tracking. The detected inputs are converted into real-time audio feedback and transmitted wirelessly through Bluetooth to a Bluetooth-Headset, enabling the user to understand the surrounding conditions around them effectively and helping them live more independently"2",
