MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101037 A) filed by Sri Eshwar College Of Engineering on August 20, 2026, for Emeterseva – A Centralized Ai-Powered Platform For Energy Meter Reading And Billing.
Inventors include M Vivek Kumar; Vipin Karthik M B; Vikas S S; and Sudharsanprakalathan V M.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: The current invention eMeterSeva functions as a smart digital system whichautomates electricity meter reading together with billing and revenue management tasks. The system provides registered users with a safe online platform to take pictures of their electricity meters which they can then upload through a web interface. The system uses optical character recognition together with specially developed artificial intelligence models to process the images and extract numerical data with high precision. The system uses a dual- validation process which checks AI-extracted data against user-provided information to confirm the authenticity and reliability of the data. The system stores validated readings in a centralized database which will be used for additional processing. The platform uses present data together with past data to conduct automatic electricity consumption analysis. The system produces precise digital bills through its dynamic application of tariff slabs and regulatory charges and taxation rules. The system removes the need for staff members to conduct manual meter inspections while it also decreases the amount of human work needed. The system allows users to pay their bills instantly through its built-in online payment systems. The system stores all transaction details with receipts and billing records in a secure manner which users can access whenever they need. The system gives administrators power through role-based access control which allows them to handle system activities while they conduct verification and auditing processes. The system achieves compliance through automated reminders which handle penalties while they maintain operational efficiency and complete audit trails of system activities.
