The primary helical coil body (102) includes a plurality of wire segments (106, 108, 110) of mutually distinct wire diameters directly joined end to end to form a single continuous coil, each wire segment of the plurality of wire segments (106, 108, 110) having a pre-set deployed shape configuration. The variation in wire diameter across the plurality of wire segments (106, 108, 110) results in a variation in bending stiffness along the working length of the primary helical coil body (102), the bending stiffness of each wire segment of the plurality of wire segments (106, 108, 110) determining the pre-set deployed shape configuration assumed upon deployment from a delivery device.
