MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641111063 A) filed by Pragati Engineering College on September 16, 2026, for Embedded-Based Overload Protection System For Electrical Equipment.

Inventors include Dr. G. Naresh; Mr. Venkatadurgaprasad Kante; Mr. K. V. S. Akhil; and Mrs. N. V. S. Sowjanya.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The overload protection system is an embedded system that watches equipment all the time and stops it when the current gets too high or stays high for too long. The overload protection system has a sensor, an optional voltage sensor, a small computer inside a switching part that can cut power, a way for a user to see or hear when something is wrong and a power supply for the system itself. The current sensor measures the current that goes to the protected device. Sends a signal to the computer. The computer looks at that signal. Compares the current to a threshold that is set inside it. When the current is above the threshold the computer waits for a set confirmation period to make sure the high current is not a quick spike. If the high current stays past that time the computer sends a signal to the switching part to unplug the device from power cutting the risk of overheating parts breaking or the device getting hurt. The overload protection system can also give a light or a sound to show the overload. It can be set to turn the power back on after a delay when the current goes back, to a safe level. If the overload comes back the computer keeps the device off. The overload protection system is programmable, quick and smart. It can be used on household appliances, motors, pumps, factory machines, control panels, farm machines and any other electrical system that needs constant overload watching and protection.
