Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A biomimetic telescopic reconnaissance arm for surveillance, inspection and reconnaissance in confined or hazardous field spaces. The apparatus has a base mounting flange securing it to a carrier and an elongate tapered body that narrows from a proximal to a distal end. The body is formed of interlocking, overlapping scale segments that bend continuously while concealing all articulating joints, making the arm snag-resistant and dust-resistant. A constant- pitch spiral ribbed surface stiffens the body against torsion. A bio-mimetic sensor head, integrally blended into the distal end, carries a primary lens aperture and auxiliary sensor ports, and bears dual flexible gripping lobes that close to grasp objects without enlarging the distal diameter. A camouflage texture relief, denser on the underside, lowers optical detectability. The body may telescopically extend to increase its reach during covert field operation.
