Abstract: An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present disclosure comprises: a first housing; a second housing, which accommodates at least a part of the first housing and guides sliding movement of the first housing; a flexible display including a first display area, which is connected to the first housing, and a second display area, which extends from the first display area; a gear, which is arranged inside the second housing and is for moving the flexible display; a motor for rotating the gear; at least one sensor; and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor can be configured to: identify the state of the electronic device on the basis of at least one from among battery current, battery voltage, internal current consumption, battery level and electronic device temperature, which are based on information detected using the at least one sensor; and control the speed of the motor on the basis of the identified state or stop the driving of the motor.
