MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617075182 A) filed by John Cockerill Hydrogen Belgium; and John Cockerill Hydrogen France on June 17, 2026, for Electrolytic Cell Comprising An Electrode Unit Produced By Autogenous Welding, Electrolyser Comprising Such An Electrolytic Cell, And Corresponding Manufacturing Method.

Inventors include Saint-Arroman, Axel; and Chardome, Ingrid.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present application relates to an electrolytic cell comprising at least a first and a second bipolar plate (14) and an electrode unit (1216a, 1216b) and a membrane (11). The electrode unit comprises a planar electrode (12a, 12b) and an interlayer (16a, 16b) which is elastically deformable in a direction normal to the planar electrode (12a, 12b) and which has a thickness greater than a thickness of the electrode (12a, 12b) at least in a central region of the interlayer (16a, 16b), the interlayer (16a, 16b) comprising periphery regions crushed in said direction and connected to a periphery of the electrode (12a, 12b) by a weld created by autogenous welding. The present application also relates to an electrolyser stack comprising such a cell and to a method for manufacturing such a stack.
