Abstract: The present invention relates to an electro-hydraulic switching valve (1) for a flight control actuator. The switching valve (1) comprises a spool valve (9) in fluidic communication with a primary hydraulic system (P1-R1) and a secondary hydraulic system (P2-R2); a shuttle valve (10) in fluidic communication with the spool valve (9) enables the isolation between the primary hydraulic system (P1-R1) and the secondary hydraulic system (P2-R2); a pressure switch (11) being positioned between the spool valve (9) and the shuttle valve (10) configured to convey the availability of fluid pressure P1 to a hydraulic service (P-R); and a solenoid valve (8) is in communication with the spool valve (9), the secondary hydraulic system (P2-R2) and a controller (56). The energization or de-energization of the solenoid valve (8) is controlled by the controller (56) based on fluid pressure obtained from the primary hydraulic system (P1-R1) and the secondary hydraulic system (P2-R2). The spool valve (9) selectively communicates the primary hydraulic system (P1-R1) and the secondary hydraulic system (P2-R2) to the hydraulic service (P-R), such that if the fluid pressure in the primary hydraulic system (P1-R1) is less than a threshold value, the spool valve (9) upon receiving pilot pressure from the solenoid valve (8) connects the secondary hydraulic system (P2-R2) to the hydraulic service (P-R).
