MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072622 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on June 11, 2026, for Electrical Response Device Using Bio-Inspired Layered Vanadyl Foams.

Inventors include Prakash, Hridya C.; and Batabyal, Sudip K..

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an electrical response device, comprising: a substrate; a layer of vanadyl foam disposed on the substrate; two electrodes in electrical communication with the vanadyl foam layer; and wherein the device generates a voltage or current response upon exposure of the vanadyl foam to a polar solvent. The present disclosure also relates to a breath-responsive sensing device in which the device generates a voltage or current response upon exposure of the vanadyl foam to exhaled human breath containing acetone molecules. The vanadyl foam devices show significantly higher current and voltage generation compared to commercial V2O5 upon the addition of acetone, confirming the process of dipole-driven energy harvesting.
