MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631111041 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Indian School Of on September 16, 2026, for Electrical Discharge Machining System With Suction-Assisted Debris Removal.

Inventors include Dr. Vivek Bajpai; and Dhiraj Bajpai.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) system (200) comprising a working tank (104) holding a dielectric fluid, a fixture (105) holding a workpiece (103), and a tool electrode (102) defining a machining zone with the workpiece (103). A dielectric flushing unit, comprising a dielectric storage tank (107), a centrifugal pump (110), and a flushing pipe (101), supplies the dielectric fluid to the machining zone at a flushing pressure. A suction unit, comprising a suction pipe (201) and a suction pump (202), generates a suction pressure at the machining zone, and a delivery pipe (203) delivers extracted debris-laden dielectric fluid to the dielectric storage tank (107). The dielectric flushing unit and the suction unit operate concurrently to establish a push-pull flow condition that maintains a balanced pressure condition, continuously extracting debris from the machining zone, thereby stabilizing discharge conditions, enhancing material removal rate and surface finish, and reducing electrode wear.
