Abstract: ABSTRACT [0062] The present invention relates to an eco-friendly synthesis of a SnO2/ZnO/rGO ternary nanocomposite using Cassia fistula leaf extract as a green reducing and stabilizing agent. The invention provides a sustainable alternative to conventional chemical methods by eliminating the use of toxic reagents in the preparation of reduced graphene oxide. The synthesized nanocomposite is obtained through a hydrothermal process by integrating tin oxide, zinc oxide, and reduced graphene oxide. The resulting material exhibits enhanced photocatalytic properties, including reduced band gap, improved charge separation, and increased surface area, enabling efficient utilization of visible light. The nanocomposite is employed for the degradation and detoxification of hazardous organic dyes such as methylene blue and rose bengal in wastewater, achieving high degradation efficiency within a short duration. Further, the treated water is confirmed to be non-toxic through biological assessment. The invention provides a cost-effective, environmentally benign, and efficient solution for industrial wastewater treatment applications.
