MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521086846 A) filed by Pandit Deendayal Energy University on September 12, 2025, for Edible Chocolate Candle With Separable Portion And Edible Sugar / Edible Clove-Camphor / Edible Cinnamon-Camphor.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: An edible candle made of chocolate is disclosed to solve the technical problems of wax dripping and single-use inedible waste associated with traditional celebration candles. The technical solution provides an entirely consumable structural column comprising a solid cylindrical chocolate base (6) and a tapered conical chocolate top (4) vertically interconnected by a pre-scored, breakable separable edible layer (5). The apex of the conical chocolate top (4) features a central wick hole (3) that structurally houses an edible wick system consisting of a compressed sugar wick (2) tipped with a trace quantity of food-grade edible camphor (1). Upon ignition, the edible camphor (1) and sugar wick (2) provide a brief, clean ceremonial flame and natural aroma before self-extinguishing. Post-use, the consumer manually snaps the candle along the separable edible layer (5) to separate the top section, allowing the un-melted cylindrical chocolate base (6) to be safely eaten directly with the cake without any chemical contamination.
