MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641076169 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 19, 2026, for Edge-Intelligent Predictive Driver Risk Assessment System Using Multi-Context Vision And Behavioral Analytics.
Inventors include Muthunagai; Sivaprakash S; Mythili G; and Ramya M.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent driver assistance system for real-time road safety enhancement through integrated traffic sign detection, driver fatigue monitoring, and predictive risk assessment. The system acquires continuous video data from a live webcam feed (102) capturing both the visible road area and the driver’s face (103). The acquired data is preprocessed (104) and processed through a conventional network (105) followed by parallel modules for traffic sign detection (106) and fatigue detection (107). The outputs are analyzed in a prediction and analysis module (108) to compute a driver risk condition based on environmental and behavioral parameters. When fatigue is detected (109), the system generates appropriate responses through a voice notification module (110) and a voice warning module (111) depending on risk severity. All events are recorded via event logging modules (112, 113) for adaptive learning and performance tracking. The system operates in real time on edge-AI hardware to ensure low latency and reliable autonomous driver assistance.
