Inventors include Dr. M. Rudra Kumar; Mrs. B. Aruna Kumari; Ms. Shaista Farhat; Mrs. Sumaiya Shaikh; Dr. T. Suguna; and Dr. L. Jayasree.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present system relates to an Edge AI-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) system for real-time disaster detection and emergency response. The system comprises a plurality of heterogeneous IoT sensors, an edge gateway, a preprocessing module, a multi-sensor data fusion module, an edge artificial-intelligence processing module, a disaster-event classification module, a severity assessment module, an emergency alert module and a communication module. The sensors acquire environmental and physical parameters including temperature, smoke, gas, water level, vibration, rainfall and other disaster-related parameters. The edge gateway preprocesses and fuses the sensor data and performs local AI-based detection and classification of abnormal events. The system determines event severity and generates an emergency alert containing event type, severity and location information. The alert can be transmitted through multiple communication channels. Critical detection and response functions can continue locally during loss of cloud connectivity, while event information can be stored and synchronized when connectivity is restored.
