Abstract: [052] The present invention discloses an Edge-AI enabled distributed smart water and environmental monitoring grid for real-time quality assessment, event localization and source-security control. A plurality of intelligent sensing nodes acquire multimodal water-quality signals together with environmental and/or source- security signals and locally generate trusted measurement frames using sensor-health information. Edge inference engines produce location-adaptive quality fingerprints and anomaly vectors, while guarded baseline updating inhibits an abnormal condition from being learned as normal. Compact authenticated event descriptors are correlated with a hydraulic or geographic graph to estimate an origin region, propagation characteristic and event confidence. Physical or cyber-physical source-security information is temporally correlated with quality behaviour to distinguish contamination, environmental drift, sensor fault, authorized maintenance and unauthorized interference. According to event class, confidence and infrastructure criticality, the grid performs a graded response including adaptive resampling, confirmatory sensing, evidence preservation, automatic sampling, alerting, valve or pump control, source isolation or source switching. Local protective operation can continue during backhaul failure, and signed event provenance supports evidence integrity. Accompanied Drawing [FIGS. 1-2].
