Abstract: The present invention relates to an Edge AI and IoT-based real-time monitoring system for smart city infrastructure and public safety. The system comprises a plurality of IoT sensors, surveillance devices, communication networks, edge computing nodes, an artificial intelligence analytics module, an event detection and classification module, a risk assessment module, an alert generation module, and a central monitoring platform. The IoT sensors acquire environmental, infrastructure, traffic, and operational parameters, while surveillance devices acquire visual information. The edge computing nodes preprocess and analyze the acquired information locally using AI-based algorithms to detect abnormal conditions, infrastructure failures, traffic incidents, environmental hazards, crowd-related events, and other safety threats. Detected events are classified and assigned risk levels, following which relevant alerts and event information are transmitted to authorized personnel through the central monitoring platform. The system reduces processing latency, network bandwidth requirements, and dependence on centralized cloud processing while enabling real- time monitoring, multimodal data fusion, predictive analysis, and improved public safety and smart city infrastructure management.
