Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an eco-friendly process for stabilizing clayey soils using a synergistic combination of sodium alginate and jute fibers to improve soil strength and foundation performance. Sodium alginate is incorporated in an amount of 0.5–2.0% by dry weight of soil as a biopolymer binder, while jute fibers are incorporated in an amount of 0.5–2.0% as natural reinforcement. The stabilized soil exhibits enhanced cohesion, stiffness, and load-bearing capacity. An optimum composition of 1% sodium alginate and 1% jute fiber achieved significant improvements in unconfined compressive strength and approximately 69% reduction in foundation settlement, making the invention suitable for sustainable ground improvement applications.
