Abstract: The present invention relates to a biodegradable and non-toxic natural moisture absorber sachet deployed in food, pharmaceutical, and agricultural packaging. The sachet incorporates Bentonite clay (103) as the primary hygroscopic agent which absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment. It includes Corn starch (102) and activated Charcoal (101) to provide structural stability along with moisture absorption and for reducing odor as well as microbial growth within the package respectively. Experiments conducted for 5 and 10 days showed that bentonite consistently had the highest moisture absorption capacity. The sachet is enclosed in a breathable, food-safe permeable membrane (201) that allows water vapor to pass through and be absorbed efficiently. The contents of the sachet are arranged in such a layer that activated Charcoal (101) is positioned as an inner core layer, surrounded by a Corn starch (102) layer, and further enclosed by an outer layer of Bentonite clay (103). Experimental evaluation on fruits and vegetables confirmed significant reductions in moisture accumulation and extensions in shelf life compared to control samples, making the sachet biologically safe, environmentally sustainable and functionally versatile while remaining cost-effective and scalable for commercial adoption.
