Abstract: ABSTRACT [0021] The present invention discloses an eco-friendly microbial consortium comprising Cellulosimicrobium cellulans and Stenotrophomonas beteli for the bioremediation of agricultural soils contaminated with persistent pesticide residues. The invention utilizes the synergistic interaction between the two bacterial species to accelerate pesticide transformation through complementary enzymatic pathways, thereby reducing the persistence and toxicity of xenobiotic compounds in soil. The microbial consortium is formulated for direct soil application and promotes efficient detoxification while preserving the native soil microbiome and improving soil quality. The proposed process minimizes dependence on chemical remediation methods, lowers environmental risks associated with pesticide accumulation, and supports sustainable agricultural practices. The consortium is suitable for large-scale field applications and offers an economical, biologically based approach for restoring pesticide-affected soils, improving ecological balance, and enhancing long-term agricultural productivity with minimal environmental impact.
