MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109966 A) filed by Nishat on September 14, 2026, for Eco-Friendly Cow Dung-Based Biochemical Method For Extracting Natural Fiber From Agaveplant.
Inventor includes Nishat Anjum.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an eco-friendly biochemical method for extracting natural fiber from Agave plant includes selecting and cleaning mature Agave sisalana leaves, preparing an activated cow dung fermentation medium by mixing fresh cow dung with water under controlled environmental conditions to activate a naturally occurring microbial consortium and hydrolytic enzymes therein, immersing the cleaned leaves in the activated cow dung fermentation medium for anaerobic biochemical retting, separating the retted fibers from the leaf tissue, washing the separated fibers to remove residual retting medium, and drying the washed fibers to obtain natural fiber. The microbial consortium includes pectinolytic, hemicellulolytic, ligninolytic, and proteolytic microorganisms that selectively degrade pectin, hemicellulose, gums, waxes, proteins, and at least a portion of lignin while preserving the structural integrity, crystallinity, and mechanical properties of cellulose fibers.
