Abstract: ABSTRACT “ECO-FRIENDLY ANTIMICROBIAL ORTHOPEDIC CAST PADDING AND METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF” The present invention relates to an Eco-friendly antimicrobial orthopedic cast padding and method of preparation thereof. The cast padding is made of cotton or cotton-based nonwoven material and is treated with a purely aqueous extract of Mangifera indica (mango) leaves using a dip–nip functional finishing process. The treated padding exhibits high antimicrobial activity against cast-relevant microorganisms while maintaining bulk, softness, comfort, and mechanical stability. The process does not require synthetic binders, chemical crosslinkers, solvents, or nanoparticles, eliminating the need for a curing step. The resulting cast padding is biodegradable, environmentally sustainable, and suitable for direct skin contact, offering a safe and hygienic alternative to conventional untreated or chemically finished cast padding.
