MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088559 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University on July 21, 2026, for Eco-Extraction System For Recovering Reusable Pigments From Coloured Textile Waste.
Inventors include Deepanshu Sharma; and Indrajeet Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an eco-extraction system and process for recovering reusable pigment from coloured textile waste. The process comprises segregating the waste by colour class, mechanically shredding it, contacting the comminuted feed with an eco-solvent, applying ultrasonic energy to assist release of embedded colourant, separating and purifying the colourant-bearing liquor by membrane filtration, regenerating the purified colourant into a solid pigment, stabilising it, and recovering a pigment powder. A pigment-recovery system comprising a shredder, extraction reactor, ultrasonic treatment chamber, filtration unit, precipitation tank, drying chamber and milling unit connected as a continuous pipeline carries out the process. The recovered pigment is formulated with a stabilising agent and a dispersing binder into an eco-friendly pigment composition for artist paints and printing inks. The arrangement recovers colourant without impairing its chromatic properties, diverting textile waste from landfill and enabling a circular economy for textile colour.
