MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631071922 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Patna on June 10, 2026, for E-Waste Pre-Conditioning And Material Recovery System And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Pandey, Lipika; Kumar, Ravish; and Meena, Shubham.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: An e-waste pre-conditioning and material recovery system (100) operates by first classifying incoming electronic waste through the functional categorization module (102), where F3 denotes non-functional yet recoverable items. These are directed through a routing interface (104) to a pre-conditioning chamber (106), which applies interface energy destabilization to weaken bonded material layers. Within the pre-conditioning chamber (106), a thermal control unit (106A) induces differential thermal expansion, a humidity regulation system (106B) enables moisture penetration into adhesive bonds, and a vibration mechanism unit (106C) applies cyclic low-frequency vibration. A parameter control system (108) coordinates the factors including temperature, humidity, vibration frequency, duration, and sequence for optimal treatment. After pre-conditioning, assemblies move to a post-treatment dismantling interface (110), where metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, soldered and laminated structures are separated with reduced mechanical force. Collectively, these components enable non-destructive dismantling, minimizing contamination, breakage, and shredding while improving material recovery efficiency.
