Abstract: TITLE: Dynamic Traffic Signal Management System ABSTRACT The present invention is directed to an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based intelligent traffic signal control system for dynamically optimizing traffic signal timing based on real-time traffic conditions. The system is different from traditional traffic signals, which work on a fixed time cycle, it constantly observes the density of vehicles with the help of artificial intelligence (Al) equipped vision sensors and edge computing. Deep learning algorithms identify, classify and count the vehicles heading towards an intersection and track them as well as forecast short-term traffic congestion with traffic history and real-time data. A novel Priority Index Engine (PIE) is proposed that calculates a Dynamic Lane Priority Score (DLPS) based on various parameters, such as vehicle density, queue length, waiting time, detection of emergency vehicles, public transport priority, pedestrian demand and predicted incoming traffic volume. The proposed invention includes a Fairness-Aware Adaptive Scheduling Algorithm (FASA) which does not cause any low-density lane to become starved even if the busiest lane receives the green signal. The invention also encompasses an AT Predictive Congestion Model which can predict traffic conditions several signal cycles in advance, enabling proactive signal control instead of reactive control. The system has the capability to communicate with surrounding intersections via cloud computing to form synchronized green corridors and optimize the flow of traffic inside corridors. The proposed system siEmificantiv reduces traffic coneestion, average waiting time, fuel consumption, emissions, and delay in travel, and increases road safety. It can be used as an independent intelligent junction controller or linked to the intelligent traffic management infrastructure of the city. The invention offers a scalable, independent and cost effective solution for urban and semi-urban road networks. OFFI CE CHENNA.I
