MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105941 A) filed by Ms. Anju Augustin; Dr. Cinu C Kiliroor; and Indian Institute Of Information Technology Kottayam on September 03, 2026, for Dynamic Self-Calibrating Spectral Sensing System For Reduced White-Reference Spectroscopy And Plant Stress Detection And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Ms. Anju Augustin; and Dr. Cinu C Kiliroor.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: A dynamic self-calibrated spectral sensing system (100) for non-destructive detection of plant stress is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a sensor assembly (102) having an upward-facing ambient light sensor (104), a downward-facing spectroradiometer (106), and an internal temperature sensor (108). A processing unit (110) operates a thermal drift elimination module (112) to compensate temperature-dependent dark-current noise and generate zero-corrected leaf and ambient spectra. An ambient ratio normalization module (114) generates a normalized reflectance estimate spectrum to compensate solar irradiance variation. A baseline correction module (116) applies baseline removal and Standard Normal Variate transformation to reduce scattering. A Gaussian spectral feature expansion module (118) generates higher- dimensional features, which a downstream analytical module (120) classifies. The combined configuration enables self-calibrated cross-species plant-stress detection at an edge device.
