Abstract: Abstract Dynamic Rainfall Severity Assessment and Prediction System A dynamic rainfall severity assessment and prediction system is disclosed for monitoring precipitation events and evaluating associated environmental impacts. The system comprises a rainfall sensing unit, a ground moisture sensing unit, a processing unit, a communication module, and a display module. The processing unit determines a Rainfall-to-Ground Response Time (RGRT) representing the temporal delay between precipitation detection and measurable ground moisture response. A Dynamic Rainfall Severity Index (DRSI) is generated using rainfall intensity, rainfall duration, soil moisture variation, RGRT, and soil saturation status. The DRSI enables dynamic classification of rainfall conditions into multiple severity levels and provides predictive assessment of runoff formation, waterlogging potential, and localized flood susceptibility. The system provides improved rainfall impact assessment by correlating atmospheric precipitation events with ground-level environmental response characteristics, thereby supporting agriculture, drainage management, environmental monitoring, smart city infrastructure, and disaster preparedness applications.
