Abstract: 1 ABSTRACT A scheduling framework, referred to as Dynamic Multi-Factor Evolutionary Scheduling (DMFES), for allocating computational tasks across heterogeneous cloud-edge hybrid computing environments is disclosed. The framework comprises an adaptive genetic-algorithm scheduling engine that evolves a population of candidate task-to-node-to-DVFS-level assignment chromosomes using selection, crossover, and mutation operators; a dynamically re-weighted multi- factor fitness function that computes a composite fitness score from energy, makespan, latency, load-balance, and cost terms, weighted by coefficients recomputed in real time from telemetry including queue length, node utilization, and remaining task deadlines; and a Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS)-aware local refinement module that adjusts per-node operating points of a globally optimized candidate solution to further reduce energy consumption while preserving deadline compliance. The framework is configured for online operation as a continuously re-invoked scheduling loop and is compatible with deployment as a control-plane component of a cloud-edge orchestration platform.
