Inventors include Swapna Sarita Swain; Deba Prakash Satapathy; Janmejoy Gupta; and Bibhu Prasad Mishra.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for dynamic assessment of land suitability for current and future built-up development. The system integrates multi-source geospatial and socio-economic data through a data fusion module. A Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) approach employing Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) is developed to model interactions among criteria and calculate a suitable index considering regulations. A machine learning algorithm, Random Forest (RF) enhanced by a Hippopotamus Optimization Algorithm (HOA) is used for generating data-driven suitability predictions. The outputs of the MCDA and Random Forest models are combined to produce a composite suitability score. A spatial allocation module allocates future development while minimizing environmental impact and hazard exposure. An explanation module provides factor-wise and regulation-aware interpretations using feature attribution techniques.
