Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a dual-ended interchangeable modular dental chisel instrument, designated the DuoChisel, designed to consolidate the functionalities of multiple cavity preparation hand instruments into a single customizable device. The instrument comprises an elongated central handle featuring two oppositely positioned threaded receptacle slots, each capable of accepting a variety of screw-on interchangeable chisel tips. The compatible tip set includes ten instrument variants spanning the primary chisel and cutting instrument categories used in operative dentistry: the Straight Chisel, Wedelstaedt Chisel, Binangle Chisel, Enamel Hatchet, Hoe, Angle Former, Gingival Margin Trimmer (Mesial Right), Gingival Margin Trimmer (Mesial Left), Gingival Margin Trimmer (Distal Right), and Gingival Margin Trimmer (Distal Left). Each tip is purpose-engineered for specific cavity preparation tasks including enamel planing, margin definition, wall refmement, and gingival floor trinuning. The central handle is ergonomically designed with a knurled textured surface providing superior grip, control, and stability during clinical procedures. The entire instrument, including all interchangeable tips, is fabricated from high-grade corrosion-resistant stainless steel, ensuring full biocompatibility and compatibility with standard autoclave sterilization protocols. The DuoChisel significantly reduces chairside time, minimizes instrument clutter, improves workflow continuity, and provides unparalleled customizability to accommodate the specific demands of each individual cavity preparation case.
