MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631125172 A) filed by Sandipan Borthakur on October 21, 2026, for Dual-Mode Fluoroscopic Mechanical Linkage Needle Guide With Self-Holding Drive For Percutaneous Renal Access.

Inventor includes Sandipan Borthakur.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A mechanical needle guide (10) for percutaneous renal access aims a needle at a target (c) a set depth (x) below a radio-opaque skin marker (102). A frame (200) on a spherical joint at the marker carries a hub (300) defining the entry point (b), and a clevis outrigger (500) held by a compound gear (316) at (1 + 1/K) times the distance a-b. A levelled column (600) places an aim point (P) at x/K, and a needle channel (400) pivoted at b passes through P, so the needle line meets the vertical through the marker at depth x for any entry point, back curvature or spine angle. The hub moves only when a thumb wheel (313) is turned, a spring washer (314) holding it otherwise. A column lock (611) beside the level, a wing-nut joint lock (109), twin entry balls (307) and needle hold-downs permit operation by touch.
