MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621044195 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Bhilai on April 07, 2026, for Dual-Modality Simultaneous Optical-Rf Sensor For Measuring Fuel Composition Without Rf Source.
Inventors include Singh, Aditya; and Jain, Ankita.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a dual-modality sensing system (100) for material characterization comprises a laser comb source (102) generating optical comb lines at least two frequencies, a first optical splitter (104) dividing the optical signal into optical and RF generation paths, and a photodiode (106) generating RF signals through self-beating at frequency |f1-f2|. The system includes a cylindrical sensor casing (110) housing a PCB ring resonator (114) for RF dielectric probing and an optical ring resonator (118) for optical probing of a sample in a sample hose (112). A circulator (116) routes RF signals to a discrete RF front end (120) for measuring scattering parameters S11 and S21. An AI-enabled signal processing unit (122) correlates optical absorption data and RF scattering parameter data for real-time feature extraction and sample characterization, enabling fuel composition analysis and adulteration detection.
