MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641107767 A) filed by Ashok Leyland Limited on September 08, 2026, for Dual-Fuel Operating System And Method For Commercial Vehicles.
Inventors include Shuvradwip Gupta; Sunder K; and Vijay Bhooshan Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: A dual-fuel gas supply system for a commercial vehicle includes an LNG branch having an LNG storage vessel (110), an LNG shut-off valve (112), a vaporizer (114) with independent fuel and coolant channels, and a pressure-stabilising device (116). A CNG branch includes a high-pressure CNG cylinder (120), a cylinder valve (122), a high-pressure filter (124), and a pressure-reduction device (126) with independent fuel and coolant channels. A common fuel circuit includes a junction (130), a common gas filter (132), a downstream shut-off valve (134), and a gas rail (142) of an engine (140). A coolant circuit includes a coolant outlet (150) and a coolant distribution device (152) routing coolant selectively to the vaporizer (114) or the pressure-reduction device (126). A controller (160) connected to an LNG tank pressure sensor (162), an LNG temperature sensor (164), a CNG pressure sensor (166), and a vehicle duty-cycle data input (168) prioritises LNG supply and initiates CNG supply when a pressure signal is below a first threshold or a temperature signal is outside a predetermined band and a duty-cycle classification satisfies a stored selection criterion, and commands coolant to the conditioning device of the branch then supplying the engine (140).
