The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a surgical instrument which can be used in oral and maxillofacial surgery for elevation of mucoperiosteal flaps during surgical procedures. Conventional periosteal elevators allow elevation of only a single flap surface at a time, requiring repeated repositioning of the instrument and increased operative time. The present invention is a Dual Flap Elevator comprising an ergonomic handle, dual opposing elevating blades positioned at the distal end, and a controlled expansion mechanism. The blades are configured to simultaneously engage the buccal and lingual mucoperiosteal tissues through a crestal incision and elevate the mucoperiosteal flap from the underlying alveolar bone in a controlled and atraumatic manner. The instrument enables uniform force distribution on both sides of the flap, thereby reducing tissue trauma, improving surgical efficiency, and minimizing operator fatigue. The device may be used in procedures including minor oral surgical procedures, dental implant surgeries, alveoloplasty, and periodontal flap surgeries.
