Abstract: ABSTRACT DUAL-ACTIVE-BRIDGE ISOLATED BIDIRECTIONAL EV CHARGER WITH HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHT-LOAD OPERATION The present invention discloses an isolated bidirectional Dual-Active-Bridge DC-DC converter and associated control systems for electric vehicle charging applications. The converter architecture comprises two active bridges coupled through a high-frequency transformer, utilizing Silicon Carbide semiconductors to enhance power density and efficiency. The core innovation lies in a multi-mode control framework that dynamically transitions between single-phase-shift, variable-frequency, and hybrid pulse-width modulation strategies to optimize efficiency during light-load operation. By adjusting switching parameters and dead-time, the converter preserves zero- voltage switching across a broad load range, effectively reducing switching losses and circulating currents. The system is designed to support both grid-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-grid power flow, providing a scalable and high-efficiency solution for modern energy infrastructures.
