Inventors include Dr. Bhooma S; Dr. A Karpagam; Dr. Geethalakshmi Manickam; and Dr. K Anitha.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a nanoparticle-based drug delivery system configured for targeted delivery of therapeutic agents to tumor tissue. The system comprises a plurality of nanoparticles having a biocompatible carrier matrix, at least one therapeutic agent associated with the carrier matrix, a surface functionalization layer comprising a tumor-targeting component, and a responsive release component. The tumor-targeting component facilitates interaction with a tumor-associated biomarker and promotes tumor-associated accumulation and cellular uptake of the nanoparticles. The responsive release component regulates release of the therapeutic agent in response to one or more physiological or biochemical conditions associated with the tumor microenvironment, including pH, enzymatic activity, redox conditions, or reactive species. The system provides a modular platform for controlled and localized delivery of chemotherapeutic, targeted, nucleic-acid-based, protein-based, immunomodulatory, or combination therapeutic agents while reducing premature and nonspecific drug release.
