Abstract: A mechanical switch according to the present invention includes a mechanical contact and coils (42, 44) that are supplied a drive current to open and close the mechanical contact. A drive power supply according to the present invention comprises capacitors (C1, C2) and switches (SW1, SW2) that are connected between the capacitors (C1, C2) and the coils (42, 44). To turn the mechanical switch on or off, the switches (SW1, SW2) are temporarily turned on to supply the drive current from the capacitors (C1, C2) to the coils (42, 44). The drive power supply also comprises a charging circuit (36) that charges the capacitors (C1, C2) to a reference voltage when the switches (SW1, SW2) are off and a control device (23) that controls the switches (SW1, SW2) and the charging circuit (36). To keep a peak value for the drive current within a normal range, the control device (23) calculates an appropriate voltage range for the capacitors on the basis of a circuit parameter for a resonance circuit through which the drive current flows. The control device (23) generates the reference voltage on the basis of the appropriate voltage range calculated for the capacitors.
