Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed of a drive assembly for an electric power generator comprising a rotor shaft that is at least partially submersed in a fluid and has one or more projections that are arranged to extend away therefrom peripherally therearound. The projections are adapted to engage with an object that has a density lower than a density of the fluid, whereby a buoyant force of the object rising through the fluid drives the projections to rotate the rotor shaft. The rotor shaft locates at least partially within a chamber containing the fluid. The chamber has an inlet at a lower portion thereof through which the object is able to enter the chamber below the projections and an airlock that connects to the inlet from which the object is released into the inlet. The inlet is adapted to separate air received from the airlock before delivering the object into the chamber.
