The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a decentralized, feed-agnostic method and system for producing carbon-negative green hydrogen and allied products from lignocellulosic agricultural residues. The process comprises: pretreating and densifying one or more agri-residues prepared by blending in predefined ratios and having tailored physicochemical properties; converting the densified single or mixed feedstock in a thermo-chemical reactor using high-purity oxygen to generate product gas and biochar; cleaning and conditioning the product gas; enriching hydrogen via a two-stage catalytic shift process; and separating the resulting syngas in a solvent-free, multi-stage adsorptive separation process using single or multiple layers of adsorbents and employing ambient pressure, vacuum, and/or temperature for desorption. The system uses tail gas from the separation process and sensible heat from hot product gas and flue gases, and recovers energy to improve process thermal efficiency. The system produces multiple products, including hydrogen with tunable purity (50-99.995?vol%), biochar, biogenic carbon dioxide, high-purity nitrogen, and carbon credits, with several downstream applications. By sequestering carbon in solid form as biochar and in gaseous form as biogenic carbon dioxide, avoiding residue burning, and displacing fossil-based hydrogen, the process achieves net negative carbon emission intensity.
