MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101357 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai on August 21, 2026, for Distributed Wearable Posture Monitoring And Corrective Feedback.

Inventors include P. Vijayakumar; Faheem Abdullah A; Sugeeth Jayaraj S A; Dhivyan Jeshua S; Sachu Joseph; Raghav Padmanabhan; and V. S. Prathyush.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system (102) and method (400) for posture monitoring and correction. The system (102) includes a primary sensing unit (104) having a processing unit (104-2) including an analyzing unit (202), a determining unit (204), an evaluation unit (206), an alert generation unit (208), and a memory (210), that receives multi-axis inertial sensor data from an inertial measurement unit (104-1), compute posture orientation estimates using sensor fusion with time-domain debouncing and hysteresis logic, classify posture deviation against a personalized reference baseline, and transmit deviation information through a network (108) to a secondary feedback unit (106). The secondary feedback unit (106) delivers severity-scaled haptic and visual feedback through a feedback actuator (106-3) controlled by a controller (106-2), independently of any external devices.
