Inventors include Thota Durga Prasad; Satti Sudha Mohan Reddy; Kokku Aruna Kumari; and B T P Madhav.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The invention provides a distributed IoT-based underground miner tracking and safety network comprising a plurality of minimal wearable Helmet Units (300), each with a Battery (301), Light (302), Microcontroller (303), and UWB Transmitter (304) broadcasting a unique miner ID; a plurality of fixed IoT Safety Boxes (100) deployed at regular tunnel intervals, each with a Gas Module (101), Temperature sensor (102), Earthquake or vibration sensor (103), UWB Receiver (104), Microcontroller (105), Battery (106), NRF Transmitter (107), and Buzzer (108); a Gateway (405); and a Control Receiver Unit (200) with Power Supply (201), NRF Receiver (202), Microcontroller (203), Control Room (204), Cloud Server (205), and Web Dashboard or Mobile Application (206). The system performs real-time miner identification, multi-node RF-based location estimation using triangulation or multilateration, multi-parameter environmental hazard monitoring, false-alarm- resistant collapse or earthquake detection through multi-node data correlation, and low-power long-range LoRa relay communication of safety-critical data from underground zones to a surface control room with automatic multi-channel alerting. The invention substantially reduces wearable cost, weight, and power draw, improves reliability in harsh underground conditions, reduces false-alarm rates for seismic events, and enables real-time per-miner location awareness without GPS.
