Abstract: A distributed hardware apparatus (100) for hardware-enforced clinical workflow lineage verification is disclosed. The apparatus (100) comprises a plurality of processing nodes, each including a cryptographic processing unit, a secure processor enclave, a hardware security module (116), a tamper-evident memory unit, and a hardware attestation interface. The secure processor enclave maintains workflow state information within hardware-protected memory regions and generates attestation information associated with workflow transitions. The hardware security module (116) comprises a physically isolated key storage region and a key-release control circuit configured to enable cryptographic signing operations upon verification of attestation information. The tamper-evident memory unit stores cryptographic lineage records and hardware verification data. The hardware attestation interface facilitates exchange of hardware-generated attestation information among processing nodes for distributed lineage verification. The apparatus further maintains workflow states including an idle state (108), a consent-attested state (110), and a consultation- attested state (112), thereby providing hardware-rooted lineage generation and verification through coordinated operation of secure hardware components.
