The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses an Edge-AI based distributed sensor network for predictive failure detection in rural water supply systems. The system comprises a plurality of sensor node units deployed at critical infrastructure locations including borewell pumping units, pipelines, storage tanks, and distribution outlets. Each sensor node incorporates sensors configured to monitor pressure, flow rate, vibration, motor current, water level, and turbidity, and is operatively coupled to an edge processing module. The edge processing module performs local data preprocessing, feature extraction, anomaly detection, and predictive analysis using embedded machine-learning algorithms. A predictive analytics engine generates an Infrastructure Health Score and Failure Probability Index for forecasting potential failures such as pipeline leakage, pump degradation, pressure instability, and water quality issues. A low-bandwidth communication interface transmits summarized diagnostic information to a central monitoring platform, while a power management module enables energy-efficient autonomous operation. The invention facilitates proactive maintenance, reduced water loss, enhanced reliability, and efficient management of rural water infrastructure under intermittent-connectivity conditions.
