MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541089670 A) filed by Dr. Belgundi Preeti on September 19, 2025, for Disposable Rigid Bronchoscope Apparatus For Airway Management.
Inventor includes Dr. Belgundi Preeti.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to a disposable rigid bronchoscope apparatus for airway management in adult and pediatric applications. The apparatus may include a rigid, single-use tubular body formed from medical-grade polymers to provide accurate placement and reduced tissue trauma. In a conduit-type embodiment, a bevelled distal end may facilitate atraumatic insertion, while in another embodiment a sharper bevelled distal end may assist therapeutic interventions, including tissue removal or debulking. Calibrated markings may assist depth orientation. The apparatus may further include proximal ports for ventilation, catheter access, and cuff inflation, an ergonomic handle for stable control, and an integrated camera with a distal light source for direct airway visualization, reducing the need for a separate bronchoscope or telescope during intubation. An inflatable cuff may provide airway sealing, while distal side ventilation ports may enable contralateral lung ventilation. The single-use design may reduce cross-contamination and eliminate re-sterilization. FIG.1
