Abstract: Disclosed is a display apparatus configured to improve the transmittance of a sensing area (HA) in a liquid crystal display panel (100), thereby enhancing the recognition rate of an optical element (350). The display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display panel (100) including an active area (AA) in which gate lines (GL) and data lines (DL) are alternately arranged to define a plurality of subpixel areas (PA), and a bezel area (BZ) adjacent to the active area (AA). The active area (AA) includes a sensing area (HA) through which external light is received. An optical element (350) is provided to detect external light or capture an image. Each subpixel area (PA) includes a thin film transistor (Tr) and a pixel electrode (130, 130’). The thin film transistor (Tr) includes a gate electrode (121), a semiconductor pattern (122), a drain electrode (123), a source electrode (124), a gate insulating film (111), and an element protection film (112). In the sensing area (HA), the gate insulating film (111) and the element protection film (112) are not disposed below the pixel electrode (130, 130’) to increase light transmittance. Fig. 5
